Ballistics

The Ballistics series is a study of trauma. The inherent violence of the gunshot (through multiple layers of material, through the back of the canvas) introduces a third dimension into the flat, two-dimensional picture plane, with the resulting wounds comprising the imagery. However, the nature of the weapon defies any attempt to re-purpose it as a mark-making tool; its destructive potential is not transformed by its appropriation into a creative act, but rather underscored.
